In brief
- The free visit is 45 minutes: conversation, suitable guided movement and a little coaching.
- No previous gym experience is needed, and there is no obligation to buy.
- Paid PT is £60 for 60 minutes; the introduction is not a free full workout.
First, we talk about your actual life
You do not need a polished fitness goal. “I want to feel stronger”, “I have lost confidence in the gym” or “I keep starting and stopping” gives us somewhere useful to begin.
We talk about your goals, exercise history and what a normal week looks like. Work, family, travel and sleep all affect what is realistic. There is little point recommending a routine that only works during a week when nobody needs you and every train is on time.
I will ask what you have enjoyed before, what has put you off and what you would like to manage more comfortably. That might be lifting weights, carrying shopping or simply feeling more capable. This is a conversation, not an interview you need to pass.
Then, some comfortable movement
Where appropriate, we try a few simple movements so you can experience a little coaching. That might include a supported push, a light pulling movement and a lower-body exercise such as standing up from a bench. The choices depend on your ability and comfort, not a standard everyone must complete.
We can discuss posture and what we notice as you move, try a different position or pace, and see whether a coaching cue helps. You can ask questions, take a break or say that something does not feel right. There is no need to force a movement.
This is not a full free PT workout, an exhausting challenge or a medical assessment. I am not diagnosing an injury. If you have a recent injury, unexplained symptoms or a condition that affects exercise, appropriate advice from a health professional may be needed before practical work.
You leave with an honest next step
We discuss what a sensible longer-term approach could look like, including how it fits your diary and budget. You can ask about exercise choices, progress and the support involved before deciding whether to continue.
New-client paid 1-to-1 PT is £60 per 60-minute session. The free introductory experience is 45 minutes. They are different appointments, and attending the introduction does not commit you to buying sessions.
You may decide to start coaching, think about it or take another route. There is no obligation to sign up, and no need to make a decision just to be polite.
What to bring, and what you can leave at home
Come in comfortable clothes you can move in and suitable trainers, with some water. You do not need specialist kit or a new gym wardrobe.
- Bring any questions you would like answered, even if they feel basic.
- Think about the days and times you could realistically train.
- If a healthcare professional has given you exercise restrictions, make those known before practical movement.
- Leave the idea that you must get fit before meeting a trainer at home.
Who it suits, including the nervous beginner
The experience is for people considering in-person 1-to-1 coaching in Greenwich. You might be completely new to a gym, returning after years away or already exercising but wanting clearer guidance.
For busy adults over 35, the useful question is not whether you look like someone who trains. It is whether the coaching and routine could work for you. If you are nervous, say so. Starting with a conversation is deliberate.
If you are travelling from Lewisham or Blackheath, think about the journey as well as the session. A manageable trip matters more than an impressive plan you cannot keep.
