Strength for Rowers

Rowing Strength Coaching

Strength coaching for recreational and competitive rowers. Get stronger in the gym in a way that supports your rowing, rather than leaving you too tired for it.

Why strength work helps rowers

Rowing asks you to repeat the same powerful movement again and again. Good strength work can help you build stronger legs, hips, back and trunk so the gym supports what you do in the boat.

The trick is not simply doing more work. Rowers already train a lot. The gym sessions need to add something useful without leaving you too tired for the erg or water.

What we work on

  • Leg and hip strengthSquats, deadlifts and other simple strength exercises to build power through the legs and hips.
  • A stronger trunkSimple trunk exercises to help you stay strong and controlled as you put force through the stroke.
  • Upper-back strengthPulling and upper-back work to support a strong position through the drive and finish.

Get stronger without turning the gym into another full-time training programme.
